Workplace Readiness Certificate

OWU is preparing students for the workplace – and that begins with your work on campus!

Career Connection, as part of the Student Employment and Success Initiative (SESI), is excited to launch the Workplace Readiness Certificate. This certificate is required for all on-campus student workers, and will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete. This work should be done during paid hours, and does not need to be completed in one sitting. There is an accompanying Google Form that also needs to be completed. Students will be asked to complete The OWU Strengths Assessment and will be prompted with a link at the start of the course.

To complete this course, you need to log in via Blackboard and find “Workplace Readiness Certificate” in the Organization Tab. Please see a preview of the Workplace Readiness Certificate Here. *Note that students should NOT take it this way, as this preview will not track certificate completion*.

If you do not have access to the course in Blackboard, please email Leigh Mascolino to get added. Note that this only needs to be completed once during your time at OWU. Please work with your supervisor to take 1-2 hours to complete this certificate. Your supervisor will receive a copy of the Google Form that accompanies the course. Once the certificate is complete, we encourage students & supervisors to complete the below sheet! Questions? Q. Is this mandatory? 

A. Yes, the University is asking that all student employees complete this certificate. 

Q. Does this need to be completed right away? 

A. We recommend that this is completed in your first month of employment this semester. You will continue to get reminders to complete it if it has not been completed. 

Q. What happens when the Certificate is completed? 

A. You will receive a certificate of completion and instructions on how to add this to your resume if desired. Your supervisor will also receive your responses.

Q. Can non-student workers complete this?

A. Absolutely! Please encourage any student to complete this certificate, it is open to all, but simply required for on-campus student workers. 

Q. Do I need to take this again if I get another job on campus?

A. Nope! You only need to complete this certificate once, and then you are all set!
