Bishop Launch Program (BLP)
Now in its 7th year, the Bishop Launch Program (BLP) helps students become confident, competent, and competitive internship and job seekers. A semester-long program offered only during the fall term, BLP targets Sophomores & Juniors, helps them in their internship/job search process, and gives them the tools (acquired through a wide variety of workshops) to successfully launch into their careers post OWU. Over 70% of students who register to participate successfully complete BLP.
In addition to intensive support from Career Connection, each participant will be partnered with a specific career coach and receive further 1:1 support. BLP offers workshops focused on personal & professional development, intensive assistance on resume and interview skills, and an opportunity to engage with employers. We work closely with students to help them meet the program’s requirements while managing their busy academic/extracurricular schedules. Upon the successful completion of BLP, students receive a $200 Professional Dress Award and a certificate.
- Attend an in-person or virtual Bishop Launch Program (BLP) Information Session offered in the Spring and in August
- Participate in the two required BLP (offered virtually & in-person)
- Attend the virtual BLP Kickoff Event to learn about Power Skills and meet with employers & Alumni in small break-out groups
- Come to a Career Fair or an Employer Engagement event
- Choose your own Professional Development Career Workshop (e.g. Get LinkedIn, Virtual Interviewing)
- Meet at least two times with your designated Career Coach (virtually or in-person) over the course of the semester and complete a Recorded Mock Interview and a Resume that gets approved.
“I would definitely recommend BLP to a friend. It helped me to prepare for my career and to go through the interview process to get an internship. The BLP program was very manageable to do and was beneficial for me.”
“I enjoyed going to all of the different personal meetings with my career coach and also getting to go to the different events. I liked that I could personalize the experience and make it fit my schedule.”
“I would recommend BLP to other students because it gives you the opportunity to grow in professional development, and be able to experience direct career coaching. It also allows you to get difficult questions answered through personalized meetings.”
