Long-Term Care Ombudsman Internship program for students needing supervised practicum or field experience working with older adults. We will work with your schedule and program requirements. Stipend and mileage reimbursement available to qualified candidates.
Responsibilities include:
- Regular advocacy visits to nursing homes, assisted livings and/or group homes as assigned by Field Instructor or Ombudsman Mentor
- Assisting in complaint handling, information gathering, and follow-up according to LTCOP policy and procedure as assigned by Field Instructor or Ombudsman Mentor
- Attending resident and family council meetings, with residents’ permission as assigned by Field Instructor or Ombudsman Mentor
- Educating residents and their families about Long Term Care Ombudsman Program services and supports
Requirements:
- Interest in working with and advocating for the elderly and disabled population
- Successful completion of Ohio Department of Aging Certification Training
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Must have own means of transportation to perform duties
- Must agree to a background check through resources determined by the Agency
