The Five Colleges of Ohio
The Ohio State University and the Five Colleges of Ohio (Denison, Kenyon, Oberlin, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wooster) are partnering to offer paid summer research internships in STEM and public health fields. This residential, in-person experience is open to students from the Five Colleges of Ohio and will run from Mid May to End of July.
What You’ll Do
SURE interns will work full-time as paid student research employees of Ohio State, conducting faculty-mentored research in OSU labs. Research areas include biochemistry, chemistry, epidemiology, mathematics, microbiology, physics, public health, statistics, and semiconductors/materials science. Interns will be matched with a faculty research group in OSU’s College of Arts & Sciences or College of Public Health.
You’ll collaborate with undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and senior researchers at an R1 university - an ideal introduction to graduate-level research. The internship concludes with a capstone research presentation at OSU, followed by a presentation at your home college in the academic year.
Special opportunities are available within:
-
The Center for Advanced Semiconductor Fabrication and Education (CAFE), supported by Intel
-
The Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) in OSU’s Public Health and Medicine departments
Who Should Apply
The program is especially well suited for students in their sophomore or junior year, though all majors and years are welcome. Students should have completed foundational coursework in their area of interest by summer. This is an excellent opportunity for those considering graduate school or planning to complete a senior research project.
