Staff Profiles

Leslie J. Delerme, NCC

Leslie Delerme recently joined the Office of Career Services at Ohio Wesleyan University as the new Director. Prior to joining OWU, Leslie worked in Career Services at Ohio University, and interned in the Counseling and Student Development Center at Kishwaukee College. Leslie received both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Master of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University. Leslie is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). She is also a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the American Association for Employment in Education (AAEE), the College Student Educators International (ACPA), the Midwest Association for Colleges and Employers (MwACE), and the Ohio Association for Employment in Education (OAEE). Her professional interests include career counseling and coaching, event planning, student engagement, employer relations, and multicultural, international, athlete, and graduate student development.

Leslie enjoys assisting college students in reaching their educational, career, and personal goals.

Nancy A. Westfield, M.A.

Nancy joined OWU Career Services as Assistant Director in 2002. She has over twenty years of experience working in career services in liberal arts institutions and values the opportunity to work individually with students as they progress from their first year to graduation. Nancy has a B.S. in Social Work, an M.A. in Sociology and an M.A. in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University.

Nancy's professional interests include the career development process, programming, peer-advisor education, and using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator in career counseling; she is an MBTI Certified Practitioner. Her memberships include National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), Ohio Career Development Association (OCDA), and Ohio Association for Employment in Education (OAEE).

Jennifer Burks

Jenifer Burks recently joined the Ohio Wesleyan University family. Her time in the banking industry and specialized retail sales has prepared her for the high paced position in Career Services. She lives in Delaware with her husband of 12 years and her 7 year old son. Jenifer enjoys volunteering with Special Olympics, Family Promise of Delaware County and working with the youth at William Street United Methodist Church. She is interested in finishing her bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Christina Swartz

Christina is a junior from Shreve, Ohio. She is double majoring in Psychology and Economics Management and hopes to attend graduate school for organizational behavior at some point after graduation. When she is not hitting the books, Christina keeps busy serving on the Psychology Student Board and volunteering at the Humane Society of Delaware County with Pet Pals. She spends as much of her free time as possible with her family, her friends, her boyfriend, and her cats, Rascal and Tux. She also enjoys shopping, reading, taking pictures, and painting.

Martim Thomaz

Martim is a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, but has lived most of his life in Valencia, Venezuela. Double-majoring in Economics and Sociology/Anthropology, he plans to attend graduate school but is not exactly sure where or what discipline. He enjoys traveling and learning about new cultures and photography.

Jay Chih-Yu Hsiao

Jay is a junior Psychology & Accounting major from Taipei, Taiwan. He first came to the States back in 8th grade, and has been studying in the States ever since. He plans to attend graduate school for counseling and/or social work.
